Dear Brista-

Isaac writing this answer while playing the Nintendo DS

Isaac, you have a very impressive vocabulary! Do you read a lot of books? What is your favorite book or favorite type of book? When I was your age, I really enjoyed mystery novels and the Babysitter's Club series.

  1. Isaac, I am curious, are you good at word games? My hunch is that you would be very quick at learning the twists to how a crossword puzzle really works. I didn't figure it out until I was in my 30's. The puzzles usually have a theme and sometimes the clues fool you at first glance and the answers are sometimes one or two words or even a phrase! There is also a game called "7 litte words" online. Ask your mom or dad to help you find it, there is a kids version. You get sections of letters to help build the words to fit the clues. I thought this would be super easy, some of the adult words I have never heard of but I LOVE to learn new words so it is great. Let me know what you think of a newspaper crossword puzzle.
By the way, they are easier on Mondays and get harder the rest of the week!

  2. Hi Isaac,

I love reading too. I am just re-reading the Anne of Green Gables series. Have you read it? Anne has an extensive vocabulary and a love or words, just like you!

  3. Have you met George MacDonald, C.S. Lewis, and (especially) J.R.R.. Tolkien yet? Oddly, John Muir might be someone you would find engaging (he was a true original). Ray Bradbury was also a favorite.
